Round pewter plate_ 8" in diameter with several cracks. Note on object: " . . . . . was the property of my great grandfather Jacobs a revolutionary soldier who as it has been handed down to us carried a wounded soldier on his back from Wilkes-Barre to Easton after the Massacre of Wyoming. F.M Vaughn" The piece was donated by David Vaughn of Sayre who believes Vaughn is a great_ great uncle of his. F.M. Vaughn was a Wyoming County judge and co-founder of the First National Bank of Meshoppen. He is not sure if Jacobs (first name or last name?) was a member of Sullivan's March. On deed of gift papers_ David Vaughn gives the gift in memory of " The Vaughn family_ who for approximately 150 years resided and farmed on Jaynes' Bend_ Mehoopany Township_ Wyoming County_ PA." Also: "F.M. Vaughn is burried in Vaughn Cemetary_ a public cemetery situated on Jayne's Bend Road_ I mile north of Mehoopany_ PA."
