Resolution drafted at a meeting of the citizenry of Athens for the purpose of conferring on the erection of the Nanticoke dam on the North Branch of the Susquehanna. At the meeting it was resolved that Julius Tozer be chairman of the meeting; that Amos Martin go to Owego and Binghamton and that Henry Welles go to Newtown to confer with citizenry in these places about what should be done "in the present state of things"; that the citizens of Athens will furnish a proper quota of men to carry through with measures agreed upon to rederess the grievance and restore the Susquehanna to its natural use; that Messrs Tyler_ Elsworth and Goodrich be the committee to hire the necessary number of men to proceed with them down the river "to perform the object of this meeting." Attested by Henry Welles. Reverse of this document has figures that do not seem to relate to the subject onthe front.
